Eating in Moderation

Hi Three to Five Tribe! We have all heard the friendly advice “everything in moderation,” yes that includes moderation itself, but too much of a good thing can actually be a bad thing. Believe me I experienced this first hand this week when I O-D’d on raw cocoa nibbs. Yes you read that right…I overdosed on chocolate.


Less Is More

If you have been keeping up with my blog posts, you know I gave up coffee back in March for Lent. 140 days later, I am still going strong. However, I found a new caffeine fix…raw cocoa nibbs. 

Cocoa nibbs are very bitter on their own, as they are raw cocoa, but when you add them to something sweet, like a bowl of berries or an avocado chocolate mousse, they complement the dish perfectly.

I eat cocoa nibbs every day with my apple. {1 apple + almond butter + cocoa nibbs = The cure for any sweet tooth}, but sometimes I can get carried away. Instead of 1-2 tablespoons of cocoa nibbs I may sometimes have 3-4 tablespoons and by may I mean I do. #dontjudgeme

To keep a long story short, I ended up taking a trip to the doc’s this week, you know, just to confirm I was not dying or anything, and he said, and I quote, “I have no idea why you are eating that many tablespoons of cocoa nibbs every day, but cut back.” (Insert eye roll here).

The caffeine in the cocoa was having an adverse effect on my body so…Final Diagnosis: I overdid it on the cocoa nibbs. #lessonlearned


Learn from my mistake (and love of chocolate) and eat everything, healthy foods included, in moderation.
