40 Days without Coffee

“Coffee should be black as hell, strong as death, and as sweet as love.” – Turkish Proverb

Hi Three to Five Tribe! Happy March and Happy Ash Wednesday! Last year for Lent, I completed my first Whole30 for the year, which then inspired me to complete three more for a grand total of four Whole30s for the year.

Now since I have already completed my first Whole30 in the month of January (and since I plan on completing three more for the year) I decided to do something else for the Lenten season. I am giving up…coffee!

Coffee Break

For 40 days, starting today Ash Wednesday, and ending on Easter Sunday, 6 weeks from now, I will be giving up my hot morning cup of java. Okay let’s be real, it’s more like 5-8 cups of joe. Insert monkey covering their eyes emoji here.

It has only been one day and I have already experienced caffeine withdrawal headaches (and I am talking about a headache lasting from 9am-3pm). I know it will get worse before it gets better, but I am looking forward to seeing any changes going coffee free.

In the mean time, you will find me sipping on warm lemon water or dandelion root tea, which tastes just like a mouthful of warm grass on a hot summer’s day – no joke. Both lemon and dandelion root are known to detox the liver, so if anything I will have a healthy liver after all of this! Bright side?

Are you giving up anything for Lent? Perhaps you are incorporating something new into your daily routine instead of eliminating something. Whatever it is, fill me in! I want to know.

Oh and any hot beverage recos that are not coffee? Don’t leave me hanging! And no, I do not want to go on a coffee date with you – at least not over the next 39 days!

Days without Coffee: 1
Days without Coffee Left to Go: 39 and counting
Whole30 is looking a lot easier than this right now!

Live Healthy, Happy & Fabulously,
-ox
